Rock Hall 2025 Inductees: Ariana Grande, Cher, Ozzy & Legends Cement Their Immortal Status

    -

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame dropped its highly anticipated 2025 class on November 18, 2025, and the lineup is pure fireworks: Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Kool & the Gang, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, and Sinead O’Connor (posthumous) lead a historic group that also honors MC5, Dionne Warwick, the Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Big Mama Thornton, Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Norman Whitfield in multiple categories. For the first time ever, eight of the ten performer inductees are first-ballot entries — a clear signal that the Hall is embracing both legacy giants and modern trailblazers.

Cher, 79, finally gets her solo crown after decades of being snubbed. The Goddess of Pop — already in the Hall with Sonny & Cher since 1998 — becomes only the second act (after Stevie Nicks) to be inducted twice. “I fought like hell for this,” Cher tweeted moments after the announcement. “From beating the odds at 19 to still selling out arenas at 79 — this one’s for every woman who refused to quit.”

Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness, earns his second nod as well, following Black Sabbath’s 2006 induction. “Bloody hell, about time!” the 76-year-old metal god laughed during a surprise Instagram Live. “I’ve been biting heads off bats longer than some of these voters have been alive.”

At just 32, Ariana Grande becomes the youngest performer inductee since Stevie Wonder in 1989 and only the fourth solo female pop artist under 35 ever (joining Lauryn Hill, Madonna, and Britney Spears). Her seven No. 1 hits, 100 billion streams, and genre-defying evolution from Nickelodeon star to vocal powerhouse sealed the deal. “I grew up idolizing every name on this list,” Ariana posted alongside tears-of-joy emojis. “This feels impossible. Thank you for letting me stand next to gods.”

Mary J. Blige, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, enters on her first ballot after 30 years of blending R&B pain and resilience. A Tribe Called Quest brings conscious rap royalty, while Kool & the Gang’s infectious funk and Foreigner’s arena-rock anthems round out a class that spans five decades.

The ceremony, set for April 26, 2025, at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, promises unforgettable moments. Early rumors swirl of a Cher-Ariana duet, Ozzy reuniting with Tony Iommi for a Sabbath mini-set, and Dua Lipa (last year’s breakout performer) returning to tribute Sinéad O’Connor with a chilling “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Dave Matthews Band fans are already crashing ticket presales, while Frampton’s “Show Me the Way” talk-box is expected to melt faces live.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, called this “one of the most powerful and diverse classes ever,” celebrating artists who “changed culture, pushed boundaries, and soundtracked generations.” Voter turnout hit record highs, with over 1,200+ ballots cast by artists, historians, and industry pros — a 15% jump from last year.

Social media erupted within minutes. #RockHall2025 trended worldwide as fans debated the picks (and the snubs — Mariah Carey, Oasis, and Beck remain on the outside looking in). Yet the overwhelming reaction was joy: finally, women dominate the performer category (five of eight), Black artists claim three spots, and pop gets the respect it’s long been denied by purists.

The 2025 class proves the Hall is evolving. From Cher’s autotuned “Believe” revolution to Ariana’s whistle tones and mental-health advocacy, from Ozzy’s shock-rock legacy to Tribe’s jazz-rap blueprint — these inductees didn’t just make music; they shaped how we feel, fight, and love.
