Colorectal Cancer Warning Signs Younger Adults Should Never Ignore

This disease, called colorectal cancer, used to be a condition of senior citizens. Though, it has become a major health issue for younger people as well. The alarming increase in numbers of young adults suffering from it has been highlighted by new research. Health professionals have pointed out that young people should learn to identify the risk of such symptoms as stomach pain or bloating which are usually attributed to indigestion. It is very helpful to know the early warning indicators because catching cancer at an early stage Quite a bit improves prospects. The life of many a twenty-somethings is very dynamic they take on jobs, make friends, and take care of the kids in their free time. In this scenario, physical conditions are often shrugged off as temporary setbacks or small things.

A drop of blood in stool can be mistaken for a few seconds of bright red streaks while the more serious ones appear as darkness like black tar. One of these situations is quite common – haemorrhoids. Any bleeding which is unexpected should be taken seriously. Same goes for prolonged bowel habit changes – diarrhea or constipation which last beyond few weeks. It would make more sense to look for a doctor rather than resorting to self-medication. A change in the stomach area may give a clue but young ones tend to put it on a diet, a fitness regimen, or stress as usual. Persistent, unaccountable cramps, bloating, or a constant feeling that something is wrong with the bowels may be signs of inflammation or growths in the colon. A symptom that can easily be overlooked but could be indicative of a serious condition is fatigue.

Many of the ambitious persons ignore signs of physical exhaustion as such and keep up the pace until they reach the point of collapse due to the body not coping with a condition leading a slow internal bleed. Cancer symptoms can be caused by things as harmless as changes in your diet, infections or IBS. There are cases of these symptoms not being cancer at all. Yet, the key is in their persistence and patterns. One-time things probably do not matter at all, but persistent signs that interfere with life activities mean that it is time to seek expert help.

Young people are advised against skipping screening just because the official guidelines used to say the first screening is at the age of 50. New trends of getting higher frequency of the disease in the younger population has resulted to shifting recommendation. Some groups encourage people to talk about their family cancer history and symptoms with their doctors before they are supposed to be the ones that come up with a solution, for an early colonoscopy or for a safer but less intrusive test – stool DNA screening. One has to look at the lifestyle habits to understand what’s behind this pattern: food high in processed elements, red meat, and low in fiber paired with physical inactivity, alcohol, and smoking all together lead to an uptick of the risk. The rise in obesity in teenagers and college students is another worrisome trend to follow. Even if you lead an athletic, well-balanced lifestyle, you can still be at risk.

This story is about a happy 32 year old businessman who ignored some occasional stomach problems until he was on a general health check and an unexpected colon cancer was found in stage I. The treatment was timely which made it possible to cure the disease, and then the man could go back to developing his company. Such cases work as a reminder to others that you really shouldn’t think that the symptoms are just not there when it actually is. It simply is that they may not get your attention until you are in the middle of your busy day. Preventing colorectal cancer is the best course of action that one could follow. The human digestive system can be well kept through eating more fruits, vegetables, and wholesome meals coupled with regular physical activity.

A balanced diet and a regular exercise routine are the best ways of protecting oneself from the gut and other related cancers. It is well known to the doctors that physical activity supports bowel function. Keeping in good shape by doing regular exercise is another advantage which goes hand-in-hand with healthy living. Not consuming excessive alcohol and being nicotine-free are two more methods that effectively lower the rate of colorectal cancer and its related diseases. Besides, one should remember to get the whole family involved in this. If a close relative of one’s got colorectal problems or a related disorder in their genes, genetic counseling should be done as well. A family history of bowel cancer will be taken as a significant risk factor in the absence of any known underlying condition.
