Shokz has added to its open-ear range of audio products with the OpenFit Air 2. The new wireless fitness-focused budscosting $129.95are based on a single idea: an open-ear listening experience that makes the user feel “almost weightless.” Each bud weighs a mere 7.
2 grams, making the new product the lightest ear-hook item in the company’s range till date. OpenFit Air 2 is one of the new products launched by Shokz based on the increasing popularity of open-ear audio products.
Unlike normal canal-sitting in-ear buds, their latest OpenFit Air 2 sits at the outside of the listener’s ear, and employs an ear-hook design to remain secure. This method means the listener can listen to music, while also being aware of their environment, widely seen as a bonus for runners cyclists commuters and outdoor workout enthusiasts.
The Li-eastness is one of the highlights for the new earbuds. Shokz claims that the weight of OpenFit Air 2 is 7.2g per piece with 0.2 g tolerance after almost one year’s R&D in numerous changes of design as they redesign the driver, acoustic chambers, pod and frame to reduce weight while not wanting to compromise with device stability and battery life.
The new OpenFit Air is a significant improvement about weight over the original OpenFit Air, at just 5.2g per earbud. To reduce the weight on either side of your head, Shokz designed for less pressure and movement on their new model, so that they would stay snug and comfortable while working out and every day. Even with its size and weight down, Shokz has introduced new audio system called Bassphere which is dual 11.
8mm high-sensitivity speakers. Based on the company, the kit is said to provide much sounds bass from the open-ear design fueled by its OpenBass 2.0 technology. As open-ear earbuds have less of a seal than traditional in-ear earbuds, sound has historically been a significant difficulty.
Shokz is trying to solve this problem by creating a new internal acoustic system, while maintaining a form factor narrow enough not to protrude past the ear. If successful, this design should offer more awareness of the surroundings to users, without sacrificing too much bass or fullness of sound. Battery life is also an integral part of the package. The OpenFit Air 2 gives up to 8 hours of playback on a full charge, with battery life totaling up to 36 hours with the charging case included.

Shokz has added Bluetooth 6.1, multipoint pairing, Fast Pair and Swift Pair support to make connecting the earbuds to different devices a lot easier.
The Shokz app lets you set up customizable controls and a Find My Earbuds option. The OpenFit Air 2 boasts of a double microphone with an AI noise reduction system for calls and improved pressure-sensitive controls to minimize unintentional presses. Shokz has rolled out a more polished gradient finish and will sell these in the Black, White and Ice Blue variants.
